This was our final Maya animation for CMPA 110 at SCAD. Once again I teamed up with my bro Matt. The assignment suggested we do a fly-through of a board game, but we were also encouraged to do whatever the hell we wanted, so we did. Inspired by a recent obsession with Battlestar Galactica, Matt and I (mostly I!) came up with the idea for a fleet of space ships being attacked by... a massive space duck? That doesn't have much to do with BSG, but I just wanted a massive space duck that shoots laser beams in there. Textures on the freighter ship acted a little weird when rendered, and the video editing could've been handled a bit better, but Matt and I (and Prof. Kaul) were pretty damn satisfied with the final results. More accurate credits as follows:
Juan Diego de Obarrio (Me) - Space duck modeling, texturing, and animation, space ship animation (I cut it in half), Maya effects (laser beam, particle fire, particle instanced ducks), space environment
Matt Thiery - Space ship freighter and fighter modeling, texturing, and animation (pretty much the whole intro and then the scene right before the ship gets cut in half), After Effects effects (little explosions), editing in AE
By the way, the music is called Prelude to War from the Battlestar Galactica Season 2 OST.
