This video is in response to people who say my hammock design isn't strong enough. Well, it was strong enough to do all the things in this video. At the time I shot this, I was around 165 or 175 lbs (80 kilos or so), and it held up to all my tests.

Shot in Utah over a year ago, I never got around to editing it until today. So enjoy!

  • What's the weight ??

  • @fukfear69

I'm not quite sure of the weight. This was more of a proof of concept than a normal use hammock. The loose weave picked up grass and leaves, and if it ever snagged, it would probably lose its structural integrity pretty quickly.

  • You are an inspiration. I used your design twice now. The first time with an old plastic tarp that I actually took up to Marion Lake and slept in for 2 nights. I guess I should point out that I am 6'4" and at the time I weighed "over" 250. On the second night more due to the age and weathering of my old tarp, it started to come apart at my shoulder. I bought some ripstop and using the same design as in your video, have been using every since and now I am down to 250. ;-)

I can't ask for a better endorsement than that! Just curious, what kind of rope/cord do you use? I'm definitely not an imposing figure (5'8", 160 lbs, I don't think I'd make it as a bouncer), so I'm curious as to how this design works for the "bigger" guys.

Isn't hammock camping the best? You can use any type of sheet (apparently even a plastic tarp), and viola, instant bed!

  • @PacoWarabi I looked for para-cord, but didn't like the price. I use cheap nylon (colorful) that i find in the hardware store. Once I used my old husky's leash, 1/2" thick, but like any rope left in the weather, after a few bounces to get comfortable found myself suddenly on the ground... hehe Good argument for not being to far off the ground. I now use smaller but still cheap rope, only new and rated for close to my weight. I live in the woods, so most of my experiments are at home.

  • love your videos

  • Good educational and silly humour that I appreciate and am able to share with my whole famly. Thanks. FYI: I made a Sketchup 8 3D model of your multipod. If you want it, PM me.
