In this clip, Ian Cross from Swimming Without Stress teaches some fundamental points on the front crawl to a competent breast stroker who's never been able to swim front crawl. This is her second lesson. She learns a balanced breathing position and finds the stroke from this position, keeping a glide going by staying balanced. • Yes, i think a proper treading water video would be useful. I'll have a think about it. But I think people lacking confidence in water tend to try to go too quickly and too directly for the 'end' of being able to tread water, and for other 'ends' like being able to do front crawl breathing. There are other more basic things you need to be able to do comfortably first: changing from front to back, managing the breathing transition, swimming with the head out of the water and then going back in.

  • water. Thanks !.But I tend to inhale and exhale very fast when i'm doing these practises. Moreover ,I'm not able to really incorporate it in my front crawl.Should I continue looking at the sky?please advise. Can you also put a video of how to tread water for I fear going to the deeper side pf the pool.I've seen the bloke on holiday one

  • It isn't easy at first to find balance for front crawl, which is why these practices are necessary. To start with i would say look up at the ceiling/ sky so it's easy to find a place for your head that's supported by the water. Relax your neck more if your head is sinking and really think about letting the water support your head, particularly the upper part of your head. Don't expect to get it straight away. You can see that I'm not expecting the girl in the video to do it perfectly at first go

  • i've begun swimming and learnt how to float in water with both arms extended and face completely immersed in water.another thing,i cannot manage a rhythmic breathing and body rotation for freestyle.

i tried the sideways swimming shown in this video, but my head tends to sink.i havnt understood where should i face?should it be sideways or upwards to the sky?why am i losing balance sideways?
