Dwarf gouramis (Colisa lalia) occasionally spit well-aimed water drops at prey. The target is washed down into the water. - This document about fish-behavior is copied from my old Super-8 Film originally made in 1968!

  • I'm thinking of getting some Trichopsis vittata; are they known to spit water drops as well? Cool video, by the way.

  • No, Trichopsis won´t spit. But they are very interesting fish!

  • Great video! Are you aware of any other genus of labyrinth fish that can do this? Please reply.

  • Thank you! Just Trichogaster spits as well as Colisa, may be also Macropodus, but I am not sure.

  • I feed my gourami and a flake stayed on the glass above the water and the gourami spat water at it to bring it down. I sometimes do that to see it spit water.
