In this lesson, I'll show you castles for Swinging Rook, especially when you're playing against Static Rook.
# I call Swinging Rook as "Ranging Rook" in this video, because that is the most common name used by English speakers. However, I change the title to "Swinging Rook" due to my personal preference.

  • Hey in shogipedia anaguma has the golds on 3h 4h but you put them on 3h 3i which one is the correct? domo arigato hidetchi san

  • I guess hirohiigo meant Double RANGING Rook at the end of his reply.

See Lesson#20, "Castles for double ranging rook".

  • I started learning Shogi just about when Hidetchi lessons started.

    Good Job!

Oh! Will you talk about some of the "exotic" (rare) Castles we've been reading on internet? Like those which uses the Rook as a defensive piece?

    Keep the good work!

  • Hello, thanks for your comment.

I don't know which castles you are talking about. I showed "Right-hand King" in lesson#17. It uses the Rook as a defensive piece. What else castle do you wanna see?

  • The rook and bishop are the top trump pieces but wy do you risk losing them/exchange.

also thanks for all the help in the shogi teaching episodes.

Have you heard of the climbing silver and can you explain it to me :D

  • Do alot of top level players use the Mino castle?

  • @simonguoxm ya, i keep thinking it'd be a lot easier if it was chess pieces.

I suppose a japanese person learning chess would thing the opposite.

  • Hello Hidetchi, I've saw you have no translations for portuguese, would you like me to translate it if necessary?

  • nooo (T-T) I've had enough for the last lesson...ok I'll try my best !

  • i've seen Anaguma done as static rook and on the left side, does this work just as well as the right?

  • is not another down point of Anaguma that it leaves your offence very weak? if all your metals are in the castle then they can't be used to attack.

  • @iLuvHinata360

i asume you ask that because of Naruto?... it's important to keep in mind that many names from anime characters are chosen because of what they mean and not because they are "real names".

Kakashi for example means "scarecrow" D:

  • um Hidetchi, I have a japanese question, if Kabuto were a name, would it's translation still be "headpiece"? Very cool/strategic castles ^^, I would personally go with anaguma castle, even if it take quite a few turns to build. Gin-Kammuri is also a very efficient castle as well. Domo arigatö gozaimasu, Hidetchi-sensei!
