A classic & beautiful roots tune by the Silvertones who were also initially known as the Musketeers when they first began working with Lee Scratch Perry. African Dub was written by the Silvertones and produced with Jerry Mathias from the Maytals, and was released in 1977 by Trojan. You can find the pure dub version on Dolemite500's channel.

  • Yes Dawta this version sounds like it's out of a slightly more "conventional" studio ...Channel One perhaps. By the way who was Scratch's partner?

  • Often referred too as Sister P or Lady P.. Pauline "Isha" Morrison.

  • I'm confused - this was called "Rejoice Jah Jah Children" when they recorded it for Scratch, and it's not really dub?

  • Hmmm.... good point... definitely same song but I've listened to the original and this version is different - even if only slight and more clearer... Methinks either Trojan retitled the track when it was reissued with the King Tubby's dub version (which is called African Dub also), or the Silvertones were the original writers of the original song (not Perry's partner who was credited with writing Rejoice) and re-produced it again with a different title to reclaim it back. We shall never know...
