A solo backpacking trip in July 0f 2010 took me in to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness south of Aspen, CO. The Conundrum drainage is a lush valley full of aspen and wildflowers. The hot springs are an 8-mile trek in at an elevation of over 11,000 feet. This is a special place I am a little reluctant to publicize. It gets a lot more traffic than you'd think. Please treat it with respect and leave your dog at home. Dogs are no longer allowed between Silver Dollar Pond & Triangle Pass: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/whiteriver/news-events/?cid=STELPRDB5194537 The route to Conundrum Peak from this side is not much of a route at all, but a brutal slide up loose talus; I don't recommend it. Music is the haunting "Latika's Theme" from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.

  • Further east, I think. It's between the Castle Creek & Maroon Creek drainages. Thanks for watching!
