Glyndwr has declared himself Prince of Wales, in defiance of King Henry IV of England, who has declared his own son (the future King Henry V)Prince of Wales (as had been the custom since the conquest of Wales by King Edward I). This infuriates the King, but the situation soon becomes serious when the "September Rampage" begins - destruction of a number of English-occupied towns in North Wales. King Henry IV sends in the troops but Owain and his men disappear. As the English troops leave Wales they are pounded by freak weather - thus beginning the legend that Glyndwr was able to command the elements to protect himself from his enemies. Then the rebellion reignites with the capture of Conwy Castle by allies of Owain, battle with England is now joined in earnest!

  • @bonzey1171 apparently there is/was one in the making, they got a cast and script but are having trouble getting Hollywood/other funding

  • Great series. I always wondered why there hasn't been a movie based on this legendary figure. I would love to see that. Am I mistaken? Has there been such a film? A curious American would like to know. Diolch!

  • Bad weather...what a shock. ;)

  • @nrjelley Actually, the rulers of Wales were traditionally known as kings. That tradition changed only when Llywelyn the Great took the title "Prince of Aberffraw and Lord of Snowdon" in the12th century.

  • @schipfan360 Enoch was a conservative MP. he made that speech in Birmingham that has a high Indian subcontinent and Caribbean immigrant population

  • thanks for the insight I never knew

  • @schipfan360 Because Wales has always had Princes not King. To be King you would be ruler of all the land, but Wales for centuries had always had different Princes who controled different areas of Wales. Glyndwr crowned himself Prince of Wales as a sought of homage to his ancestors, it was tradition.

  • @Gunnarsguns LOL isn't enoch powell the bnp or national front guy who said english blood would flood the streets if all immagrants weren't deported from england

  • why did he crown himself prince and not king

  • Owain Glyndwr looks remarkably like Enoch Powell
