Incredible Mountain Roadside Waterfall Near Covington, Va #2

Vid #2: Recorded 8/2/08. About nine miles north of Covington, Virginia, on Rt 220, is this spectacular mountain range and valley vista, complete with a waterfall that you can actually walk down to... and beneath! The walk down the hill is VERY dangerous and treacherous, so you WILL NEED hiking boots or good shoes. Bring your camera... you're going to need it! Look for my other videos showing the same waterfall, as seen from down below! It had just rained, only 30 minutes before I had recorded this, so that may have added to the waterflow. If you go during an unusually dry season, you will likely see less of a show. As you can see in the video, there is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS drop-off of about 75 feet where I was standing recording. I was holding onto a tree to record to keep from getting dizzy. I was only a mere two feet from the ledge leading to the canyon below. I would NOT recommend getting this close if I were you! As you can see, there is abolutely NOTHING to prevent you from going over the edge!!

I know it's techically not in Covington itself. The title says NEAR Covington, Va.

Nice view and so peaceful. Do you or anyone know the name of this waterfall, I would like to know the height of it.

Not certain of the name. However, you might try contacting the county tourism office of whatever county Covington, Va happens to be in. There is another video of what I believe is this same waterfall, also on YouTube, and I believe it mentions the name of this waterfall.

I live in Covington as well and this is maybe 10 mintues up the road from my house. Its a local hang out spot for the teenagers during the summer. Believe it or not Covignton/hot springs area has some pertty amazing stuff! Crazy how close it is to town huh!

i live in covington and we just call it hot spring falls but if you want to see a amazing waterfall in covington go up to the falls down on roarin run a take a video of the trails the falls and the old iorn foundry i love this town

Its called Falling Springs. Beautiful spot.

My mom is Covington and we used to drive up there from Richmond every month or so and I always loved the scenery., Humpback Bridge, Douthat State Park etc.
