It's corny, and broad and at times obvious, but it's also a gentle satire on how "big city folks" see their country brethren.
Well-acted, well-written, and within it's limitations (nothing cruel, no profanity, etc) it's an excellent show.
And compared to 90% of the dross that the US ships out as "TV entertainment" it's a master-piece.

living in Alberta works too. I used to work at a small gas station even. this show is almost what my life was. I have all the seasons on dvd! HA!

I think in order to fully apreciate it you would have to live in saskatchewan(where I happen to live). The town of dog river reminds me so much of my fathers home town quill lake. The people act the exact same as the characters on the show. I wouldn't really say the show describes canada in general, because we are a diverse country.

I fully understand the premise. How the whole town is a little off. I still don't find it all that funny. But that's okay. It's just my opinion. I'm glad that Canadians have a show that they can all get behind.

'now it's a big dirty hoe...' the play on words is just so classic. 'crack hoe..' makes this show head and shoulders above soooo many others.
