This is a glitch that allows you to fight Professor Oak using Trainer-Fly. To do it, you need a pokémon with special stat 226 and a Ditto to transform into it. I used a lvl100 Venusaur from the level 1-100 glitch for my own convenience, any pokémon with a special of 226 would be fine.

Oak's team varies with the amount of growls you use on ditto.
Using six, like it was done on the video gives him Tauros, Exeggutor, Arcanine, Blastoise and Gyarados. Five is the same, except that Blastoise is replaced by Venusaur; and four replaces it with Charizard. Using fewer growls will cause Oak to have a strange team made of poison and electric pokémon.

I think in the initial R/B project, the player would fight Oak after completing the game, but that was changed somehow. Anyway, his data is still there and we can access it with the help of some bugs.

  • Cool! The process done for this glitch is almost the same that was used for catching mew with no codes! I wish it was possible to fight Oak in the remakes.

Oh yeah, I have a question.........

Does this glitch work in Yellow?

  • @DoubleGee94 I haven't tested, but it's likely that it'll work

  • where's t L for lvl when you fight youngster at 0:45 ?

  • @MrCrossForce It's not displayed when your pokemon is at level 100.

  • why does your pokemon get exp although it's lv 100? and also why do the nightshade attacks affect tauros, which is a normal pokemon? something's fucked up here

  • @mStheRedPsycho Every lvl100 pokemon in generation 1 receives a message saying he's getting exp, though the game resets his exp value to the lvl100 cap after this.

About Nightshade, I got this from bulbapedia: "Night Shade hits both Normal-type Pokémon and Psychic-type Pokémon, both of which have immunities to Ghost-type moves during Generation I."

  • where to play this pokemon game?

  • Actually, I read somewhere (Bulbapedia, I think) that it depends on what Pokemon you chose as a starter. You did pick Bulbasaur, you rival Charmander, and Oak, Squirtle. Or could be a coincidence. Have you tried that 'growl trick'? If it does work, feel free to prove me wrong.

BTW, a battle with Oak would've been the coolest. Thanks a lot for the video!

  • lolwut night shade doesn't effect tauros!

  • This should have been punishment for trying to ride the bike or fly indoors too often.

  • mmm it looks like Prof Oak take 1 tauros from Ash... i wont send more pokemons to that old robber man...

  • This glitch that gamefreak invented as a test to let you go to the league i think, but gamefreak never fck off this glitch just hide

  • Go to my video to watch a rom hack where OAK is the 7th gym leader of a new beta version in progress of a game using firered

  • @lampshades120 I heard this somewhere it was a battle that had the trigger to activate it removed but the battle was still left in the game and the series of events in this video triggered it, so the ability to fight him was the result of a sloppy cleanup by whoever removed the battle.
