reason editor Matt Welch discusses the controversy surrounding Ron Paul on CNN's Situation Room. Paul is questioned by Wolf Blitzer on the content of his newsletters.
@deimateos I'm not worried about blacks getting too many rights and whites being discriminated about. What I hate is the political correct movement. If we be honest about our feelings of race and deal with each other sensibly like anyone else we would sooner then later be over the race issues.
This isn't a gotcha newsletter. There are many quotes that are pretty racist and insensible to blacks. Even though I'm not convinced he said all that, he should be serious about an explanation.
@samwst56 You're not speaking the truthTroll, you are speaking an opinion you have. There's a difference. Secondly, as always you provide no evidence for your claims. Nothing adds up with you ever! You can tell me something like RP's policies regarding X would fail because Y. Ron Paul wants to end the War on Drugs and do away with court sentences involving drug crimes on certain individuals. That's an amazing amount of minorities that would be set free. Explain the racist part here?
@theman4130 Speaking the truth is not Trolling. The truth is it's own defense. This entire discussion for all concerned, we who know and the followers of Mr. Paul, know in our hearts that his policies would have destroyed our beloved nation.
Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans know a whacko by his words. And his words are in newsletters and other reports that show his lack of character.
@deimateos it's the media's magic slur trifecta. They do it for any anti-establishment political figure. They did it for X, & their doing it for Paul. I want to believe him that he didn't write/proof them & after reading the newsletters, trying to keep my ethnicity out of my reading of them, I've decided to support Paul even if he did.
He's the only one who advocates real peace (ending the black-targeting "drug war"), & not costing US lives/dollars to murder brown Aryans "for Israel"
@RuinSonic the issue is that "racist" is tossed around too much these days. People think saying inflammatory things is instantly racist but this is not always the case. Some of the Newsletters ("King City?" Oct 90) are clearly racists, others (July 92) had legitimate concerns of media blackouts on black crime and pro-white violence sentiments being praised.
The notion that "only white people are racists" needs to die
Because newsletters where written in his name that he ignored for years? I think that's pretty damning for him to go up against, but nowhere do I see on tv or in his philosophy that he may be a racist. That's not proof unless you know something more that I don't know.
@NotTrollingYou As important as evolution is as a science and as something intellectuals should know, it isn't the most important thing when running a country. There's plenty of issues that many of us could point to that could discount each and every one of these politicians if we had that strict of a standard.

@samwst56 Yeah! Get the most sleep you can before you gotta punch the Trolling time card.

@samwst56 I find it real hypocritical that you use the word deluded. Oh well, I guess it's the only thing you're good at.

@charlieheinz57 You can say that again. And it looks like you are! HA! RP looks like Alec Guinness in The Lavender Hill Mob.
"Some of my best friends are blacks," says RP. He acts like a frightened, cornered wimp, which he is.
