If your iPod isn't jail broken is the SSH still save? Or do you have to jail brake your SSH to secure your SSH?

nice vid dude, but i was following how to change the "slide to unlock" colour change, and then followed this guide to SSH, however, when i moved the file to my iphone, it still wouldnt change the colour. Any pointers, or am i not moving the file properly?
