@thumppurrr , Gene did a great job with that song and was probably "the" drummer that helped make Sing Sing Sing so well known. Benny Goodman played and recorded that song many times in his career, I believe Roy Burns gets the brass ring for his solo!!!

He's not underrated...he's just not as well known as most great drummers. Among his peers though...they know he's as good as it gets.

I got my drum setup from him back when it was shown in the old Rogers catalogs. It was with the two upper toms mounted slightly to the left with ride cymbal mounted on a holder on the bass. To me this is the ideal setup as you have the advantage of two toms instead of one and the ride in a perfect close comfortable position. Thanks to Roy.

Does anyone have the song Sing Sing Sing by Benny Goodman with Roy Burns on drums?????????? Can't fine mine and no one seems to remember how great that drum solo was.

Roy gave the best clinics. He gave great detail on stick technique, how to practice the rudiments and breathing. Learned a lot from him. A great man.
