We decided to try out a new family adventure, this past weekend by going to a dune buggy racing facility in Jacksonville, Florida where even our kids could drive the dune buggies!

It was a great adventure that included an hour of drive time! We paid for a special event that provided the unlimited riding for an hour, but the pricing for regular open rides is $7.00 Single Driver and $9.00 for two people to ride in the same dune buggy. Each ride is a 6 minute ride about 8-10 laps. You can buy as many rides as you like!

The name of the park is Baja Buggyz Dune Buggy Adventure Park and is currently only open on the weekends. For the most part, they're available for special events, but they do have "open riding" times. You need to call to verify the times that are open, each Thursday afternoon.

The dune buggies hold two people and I can tell you that both riding and driving are very fun. This also allowed more kids and adults to have fun in a shorter period of time. The two people, though must be one adult and one child or two children. The dune buggy is just not big enough for two adults.

You take the dune buggy around a short dirt track with straight-aways, turns, berms, and hills. The people at Baja Buggyz are very friendly and helpful. They'll keep you on track, even if you're just starting out driving.

You're not really "racing," although that's what I kept calling it. You do get opportunities to pass slower dune buggies, though. The staff can adjust the speed of the buggies based on the age and experience level of the drivers, including making those changes at the track as your beginner drivers get better.

They do have helmets and eye protection available, although neither are required. We were not informed about any shoe or clothing requirements, but I'd recommend closed toe shoes and pants/jeans.

Also, we were able to bring our own food and drinks and Baja Buggyz can provide a grill, too. You can make a real party out of the experience!!

A great experience that most people in the North Florida area probably don't even know about! Get out and try something adventurous and off the beaten path at Baja Buggyz!
