One of the world's first ever glimpses of the ancient Tibetan kingdom credited with preserving and fostering Tibetan Buddhism. Guge flourished during the Medieval times but suddenly disappeared in the 16th century. All that remains are eerie reminders hewn into a massive stone city on the border between Tibet and India. Produced in 2007 by Bang Productions in association with France 5, the Media Development Authority of Singapore and OTF.

  • what is this from and whre can i watch it?

  • Several years ago I could watch the whole doc on Swiss television.

  • Founded in the 9th century Gu-ge was the political and cultural focus for all western Tibet. Sited on a minor trade route linking Tibet with Kashmir and India the twin towns of Tholing and Tsaparang it thrived until the 17th century when invading Muslim forces overcame the defenses and massacred the population. From the 1680s until the early 20th Century the region was largely deserted, with its great history and cultural treasures forgotten and undisturbed.

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • I visited Guge Kingdom in August of 2009. The site is so stunning, vast and out of the way it literally takes your breathe away!!. You climb up steep stairs and a hand carved tunnel to get to the summit/plateau. On the summit sits arces of ruined palaces/temples and fortress walls. We spent 2 days there wandering through the maze seeing astoundng things, sites and vistas. You walk around in awe. Dont miss the Skeleton Cave further down the valley...its off the beaten track but mystifying!!

  • Where are the rest parts of this film ?

  • a big monster killed them all

  • I'm very interested in going to this place.
