Dr. Camille Parmesan, Associate Professor in the Section of Integrated Biology at the University of Texas, discusses her research.

Parmesan's work has been on current impacts of climate change in the 20th century on wildlife. Her work on butterfly range shifts has been highlighted in many scientific and popular press reports, such as in Science, Science News, New York Times, London Times, National Public Radio, and the recent BBC film series "State of the Planet" with David Attenborough.

  • @davybjohnson1990 why would you bring religion into this? This is about Earth, not whether or not a religion is based on truth. This is about our home. Let's keep it that way.

  • @maximum411 not suprising at all people listen to closley these days to what the media tells them very few people decide for themselves with an open mind.

  • I was mistaken before when I said solar activity had decreased since the seventies; it has been a while since I researched this and the decline actually begun closer to the 80s, but the point is the same.

Thanks, by the way, for actually taking evidence into consideration and being logical in what you believe. Surprisingly few people are willing to consider another side once they have decided which side they are on.

True, science can be off, but it is our best bet and if you don't trust science you can't trust anything. You can't post links on YouTube comments, but if you do a Google image search of global temperatures vs. solar activity you will see graphs demonstrating this from many different sources. You can do the same for temps vs carbon dioxide.

  • @maximum411 valid point however you cant always expect scientific predictions to be correct sometimes they are off. however you could be right. whats your source for these facts? ill have do my own research before i make a decision on the topic.

  • @slashisgod9299

Then why does the recent rise in temperatures (since the 70s) correlate perfectly with rises in carbon dioxide, while solar activity has decreased since then? If the solar activity theory is correct, temperatures should have dropped since the 70s, and yet they haven't.

  • @maximum411 i respectfully disagree. i am not a ideological person so i too researched this topic. many of the so called convincing evidences is very weak. althoug it sounds good it is ture that climate temperatures have always been different! you cant see a change in climate and automatically blame pollution its always been happening things wont always stay the same and there has been no major change in any climate but many exxagerations. and before you ask no im not religous

  • @slashisgod9299

Really? Would you like to take a look at all the scientific evidence behind global warming before you believe the right-wing conspiracy theorists? I have researched the topic heavily (as well as the "arguments" on the other side) and all the criticisms of it are shallow and not backed up by facts, while the evidence supporting it is very convincing.

  • lol global warming people will believe anything. why did politicians get away with making up global warming? cause americans are stupid simple answer
