Hood River car dealership closes

HOOD RIVER, OR - Its no secret the U.S. auto industry is in big trouble. With CEOs appearing before politicians who are reluctant to hand over $25 billion to save the Big Three Ford, GM and Chrysler it's no wonder people are holding off on buying a new car, especially if it is American-made.

One salesman, who identified himself only as Erik, is now out of a job and pulled no punches when he placed the blame for the precarious position of the U.S. auto industry and the loss of his job. He blames consumers, specifically those that bought foreign-made cars.

Ask "Erik" why he is not selling Fords anymore? It would be because Ford came by and pulled the dealership's contract for fraudulent warranty claims! About Dodge.... They did not "close" they were "shut down" for fraud! Hood River Ford, and Hood River Dodge were owned by Metro Auto Wholesale which was also Shut Down for fraud. Erik needs to get over his little pity party and realize that when you are not working honestly, then you will eventually loose.

Who made Eric become a car salesman? His claims are laughable. I've sold cars myself and I can tell you that the markup on domestic brands is usually 1.5 to 2.5 times the markup on import brands.  Everybody knows you can get an F-150 or Silverado comparably equipped for thousands less than a Tundra. Yet, Toyota is still winning. It's not about perception, it's about quality. BTW most of the Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, sold here are actually made here. What about their American jobs?
