  • hey, im seriously considering doing this conversion with my GT (RB26 or 2JZ) did you modify the crossmember and suspension? any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Ben

  • Hi Ben, The front crossmember and suspension are bone stock, the rear end is a 9" Ford with an Alston 4-link and coil-overs. The firewall and transtunnel had to be cut and remade once the motor and tranny were in. There is quite a bit of engine setback but once it's in it looks like it came with it. When I started the project I was concerned it may not clear the hood but there is quite a bit of room and great ground clearance. Any more questions just let me know. Steve

  • i was figuring that a fairly large amount of fabrication would be needed for the firewall and tunnel! so you're running bone stock front crossmember and suspension?! mental!

what brakes have you gone with? seriously sick looking car though dude.

ive seam welded my shell, everywhere, and welded in a rollcage (but subtly) so its not blatantly obvious ;)

im seriously impressed you didnt need to modify the front crossmember, do you have any pictures of the build dude?

    cheers

    Ben

  • I have pictures somewhere but I'm not quite sure where and they're not on the computer. The front brakes are stock and the rears are 11" drum. Yes, I could use better brakes! Sorry it took so long to get back

  • Very nice.

I used to have a '73 roadster and the sight of a mostly stock looking MGBGT making that kinda noise and the BOV just feels so strange and incongruent but in a good way.

Glad you've kept the exterior mostly original though. What a sleeper!

  • Thanks, That's the look I was going for. From the side you can't really tell there is a cage in it.

  • Nice car ! Those wheels look look like they were designed for that car--- they are perfect ! Your car makes my '69 BGT look really lame !! Ha Ha ! Nice choice for the mill, too, interesting and different ! Two thumbs up, man !

  • Hey nice car! do you know its 0-60? thanks

  • has that got an automatic transmission?

  • I've had it to the track once and I ran a traction limited 12.38 @ 131 mph. The motor mounts are attached to the frame and were custom made. I also have tubes coming off of the roll cage which attach to the frame by the motor mounts. As far as fabrication goes, yes, there was a lot of fabrication. I have posted other comments in some of my other videos also. Look under spooledmgbgt supra mg and supra mgb to see all of the vids. Any more questions just let me know. Steve
