@CeLticFire1251 He is actually telling you how to write footnotes in MLA. Since in MLA all the citations done in text there is no uniform way to make a footnotes in MAL style. Footnotes in MLA primarily used for comments not for citations.

It is not correct that "we don't do that anymore." Turabian style citations still do use traditional footnotes at the bottom of the page. MLA and APA use in text citations using parentheses. This video really says very little of value. While in-text citations are often used in academic articles, I think they interrupt the flow when reading, while footnotes at the bottom of the page give full information which you can conveniently glance at if you are interested.
