i saw the play and ACTUALLY Ashanti did an AMAZING JOB!

I saw the play 7/1/09. Ashanti made it look hard, which is NOT what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to make it look easy. I don't know what happened to Orlando Jones, but he's not in it, some other guy was and wasn't that good. Everybody outsang Ashanti, ESPECIALLY Tichina Arnold. Even the background singers (that girl Adrienne in the clip) outsang her in "Brand New Day". But Ashanti is properly humble so it made me not hate her. She's no Stephanie Mills. She's no Diana Ross.

Anyway do ya research.there are people on broadway right now that will blow ya Ashanti away and ppl that auditioned wont always necasarily get parts either..Im not hating on Ashanti..she made it with what very little she has called talent..but thas just the direction music is going these days.

So one, Im guessing your some big Ashanti fan and two..your not a singer/musicain yourself. Everyone knows in the music industry its hard, full of set back..and something stuff happens that totally out of their control and crazi. I to am and singer and If I auditioned for the role of Scarecrow and someone like Pleasure P whos realli not a great singer auditioned..they would give it to him for ticket sales..not talent..a star can fill the house more that someone who hasnt put out a record.

Don't hate congratulate. Maybe its a reason why your friends didn't get it. If they were as good as you claim they would've gotten the understudy part or another part. Stop hating on people and learn to live your life. If your friends were so good they would have put out records by now.

only reason she got it was becuz she was already a star..ive had several friend try out for that part who would blow Ashanti away but becuz they havent had records out..(which by the way werent good) they were chosen

ok guys lets do some research. GOD NO... this was not the first African American musical to be on broadway... the first Broadway musical written by African Americans, and the first to star African Americans was "In Dahomey" in1903. Also "Raisin in the Sun" was definitely not the first straight theater piece by an African American to go up 2, It was the first most successful, but not the first ever....
