Hawthorne Mayor Guidi is proposing waiving anywhere from $600,000 to over $2.200,000 dollars in Development Impact Fees that developers should pay to cover infrastructure improvements for Police, Park, Streets and Storm Drain. It is interesting to note that most of Mayor Guidis campaign donations come from developers and their related special interests. The City of Hawthorne taxpayers would be forced to backfill these development impact fees out their general fund. No conflict of interest here for the mayor..

  • If a developer cannot pay up front, you just set up a ten year bond or payment schedule. That helps the town (in most states) because you have a 16 year window to spend the money, not the usual six. Any waiver or deal on impact fees should create living wage jobs for residents, and you'd better get the property deed restricted to do that.
