@leokasper7107 He's playing all the time. He does the amp adjustment whilst playing D's and G's, on the top two open strings. You mute the open string with your right thumb. It's a regular bass thing called 'floating thumb' technique. It really helps with damping/muting whilst your playing, check it out :o)

Stood about 6' from Jaco when I saw him play in the now defunct Lone Star Cafe in NYC back in '85. I'll never forget that. RIP, J.
