The Discord Beat

EDIT (Oct 20, 2011): Oh. My. GAWD. I, for the life of me, did not expect to grace the page of Equestria Daily. I mean. Wow. Oh wow. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

FINALLY. After many hours of non-sleep, I've finally created something that shows that I didn't live my last week for nothing. Or maybe I did. Hm.

Anyways, I loved working with John de Lancie's voice. Man, his laughter is so percussive, I could probably make an entire song using his laughter to keep beat. Though I don't have as much samples to work with, there were still a bunch of gems in the episode.

I've finally made a complete song after coming to college. I found out that my music really pales in comparison with Alex S. and Eurobeat Brony's. In fact, Alex S.'s Cutie Mark Crusader Dubstep and Eurobeat Brony's Discord (Eurochaos mix) were the reference I was working towards. I still think I need a lot, a lot more practice and knowledge before I can even think of reaching their level, if at all.

And now that I think about it, I really don't know what genre of music this song falls into now. It's like... dubstep... techno... electronica? Bah. That's why I called the song "Discord Beat" instead of... well, "Discord Dubstep" or something.

I need a break for a while now.

Oh yeah, the main melody of the verses is taken verbatim from the show, with help from DrDissonance's Discord Theme, since he isolated the parts.

@Tehmultifish Well, the beat he has in the beginning is a dubstep beat. I personally am not one for this kind of dubstep... it's monotonous and boring. I mean, I love house techno, but dubstep to me should be beefy and crunchy, not delicate and light... I commend him for the work, I know how long it takes to create the dubstep sounds, but there's simply not enough for me... Sorriez. :3

@lilchucknorris No need to say sorry. I pretty need all the advice I can get, because I just realized most of the songs I make all contain things I've never tried before. I sampled for the first time in Sonic Rainboom, and I spent a lot of time just learning/listening to wubstep for this song. I need to know what works, what doesn't, and hopefully, in a year, I might be able to do some of those beefy, crunchy dubstep you're talking about. Anyways, thanks for the advice!
