This video shows the parallel way that the horse produces energy for the movement: The hind leg gives the forward movement for the front leg on the same side. This horse does almost not push downwards into the ground at all (which would be the diagonal production of energy). She moves her hind leg backwards, but then instead of pushing down, she just lifts it again and moves it forward.
When a horse uses almost only the parallel production of energy like this one does, the resulting movement will be without suspension, with minimal swinging in the back and the hind legs might get difficulties tracking up. The horse will end up with a weak topline, especially in the neck and behind the withers. The croup may still be well muscled, as in this horse.
