The song is called "Locking Up the Sun" by Poets of the Fall, from their 2006 album - Carnival of Rust.

I put this together during winter break 2006/7.

More weight is carried if you've seen these movies, know these heroes, what they stand for, and the context of certain scenes I've chosen to include.

Footage Taken From:
Superman (1978)
Unbreakable (2000)
Spider-Man (2002)
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Hellboy (2004)
Farenheit 9/11 (2004)
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Gunner's Palace (2004)
Batman Begins (2005)
V for Vendetta (2006)
An Inconvenient Truth (2006)
Superman Returns (2006)
Invisible Children (2006)

and from free stock footage samples I found online.

  • Great video! I guess you showed those superheroes with superpowers. I would like to add Ellen Ripley and Alice from Resident Evil

  • @Magnolia296 Yeah, both of those women kick ass and Milla is my favorite actress. Next time.

  • An actual super hero in the world would be the easy way out.

If things are gonna change it's gonna have to be *us* changing.

Wanting a hero is just wanting someone else to take care of our problems.

  • Exactly.

There's a line in the last verse of the song

"and in the emptiness, there's a solution, just look within yourself for absolution"

  • ok, great vid & idea, but imo it was a bit stupid to mix real life issues like war + terrorism with comicbook heroes, it kinda makes light of some really serious issues. u probably shoulda picked one or the other

  • I wanted to juxtapose reality with the fantasy we see reflected in film/media. There's an increasing craving for heroism in media over recent years which I think is a response to the strife in the world. We dream of caped heroes flying down to solve our problems.

  • This is a man from Finland(the same country where this band is from) and I must say: This is what The World Would need, People Who Have Guts Say Aloud: ''ENOUGH!!!!!!'' to the evil in This World. Just one word. Enough.

  • what the world needs is a hero, someone to stand up to the wars and crime in the world, someone who is not afraid to stand up for what they believe in at least a symbol of hope someone who can teach us all that we can stop this stupid fighting, someone who isnt afraid to say enough but sadly that could never happen because humans are tu stupid and stubborn always wanting to be better than everyone else thumbs up if u wish for a real hero to show us that it is ok to no longer be afraid

  • Or maybe, an example to follow? To inspire "us" to do something. what that something is, who knows?

  • lol, which really is a crappy solution since it doesn't really solve anything.
