  • Pretty cool. I didn't know that small dogs could be considerd as service dogs. I always see people with the big dogs.

  • Any size dog can do service work...that is if the dog can be trained to carry out tasks that mitigate a person's disability. Little dogs can not pull wheelchairs, carry heavy loads, brace for balance, etc. So large breeds are more commonly used and are certainly more visable for public work. Rudy does most of his work for me at home and is a good fit for me. Thanks for viewing!

  • Your welcome. Well I finally got a dog that I thought was a puppy. She only has a few more months as a puppy. She's a chihuahua mix. One thing she is of service to me is letting me know when someone is at the door, or just the other day I had a leak in the ceiling and water was pouring on the table. I couldn't hear it because I have a hearing problem. I'm thankful that she heard it because my whole carpet would have been wet. I didn't hear a thing until she kept barking.
