Between 1958&1975 Herbie Man recorded some of best jazz ever heard and now a new generation of young listeners are turned on.

and where is the version with the encore?
-
Fine cut. RIP Herbie

The bass and vibes solos are fantastic. No one can sit still while this is on.Another great version is on the Newport Jazz Festival album when the crowd screams for an encore. I saw Herbie at he Tralf Cafe in Buffalo toward the end of his career while he was battling cancer. A great loss to the jazz scene.

Had the privaledge to meet Ben Tucker in Savanah, what a pleasant and humble gentlemam. The best grooves seem so simple... but hold so much feeling. Great work.

@gracierex1 In my opinion, this album would have to be amongst the top 10 or so of live jazz recordings.
The sheer talent that was assembled for this session is amazing.
You feel like you are sitting/standing in the famous Village Gate
I only wish that i was there to witness this playing. It would have been pure magic,

Wow, I remember playing this at a house party in the 60's and everybody got up and danced . I was surprised because I thought only I liked Jazz. Nice of Herbie to acknowledge everyone in the group at end of the live Village Vanguard recording--Dave Pike, Chick, Potato, Bruno Carr, Earl May, BenTucker and Mark Weinstein.

@persevere4 No, according to the notes on the back of the album, Hagood Hardy is listed on vibraharp.
