on a futon that gets stored away in the daytime.
-
where do you sleep?
-
in some ways, yes. in other ways, no.
the application process itself isn`t that hard, minus a very stressful interview. however, there are limited positions open in each country everywhere and many many more people apply each year, so getting in is pretty competitive.
i encourage you to try if you think you`d like to do the program. :) goodluck.

I'd be scared to hang my clothes on that balcony, especially in strong wind. I'd be afraid of them blowing away unto the street. Did the washer and other furniture come with the apartment or did you have to buy them yourself?

yeah, really windy days are troublesome, especially when hanging out my futon as it seems more likely to fall off the balcony than anything else.
my board of education supplied the table, cupboard, wardrobe, fridge, rice machine and stove. i'm not sure about the washing machine, i assume it's theirs too. but everything else i bought myself or was left here by the JET who was here before me.

hey, yah your apartment looks cool!kochi is going to be my first choice on the application but i cant find out much info. how are the other jets getting on?any horror stories?what is it like for those in the inaka?...barrage of questions i know, sorry

sorry, i dont know why it took me so long to reply to your comment. ^^;
you have good questions, but the're really hard to answer sadly. i can only say what the inaka is like for me as it's different for everyone, but saying what it's like for me would take a loooot. i cant think of any "horror" stories, just bitchy stories lulz. there are about 100 JETs throughout Kochi pref. :)

...wow, that sucks. i went to click "Reply" and accidently clicked "Remove" on your last comment.... -_-;;;
anyway, the toilet thing is very common in Japan, sadly.... if you don't have a squat toilet, then you have a toilet with a wannabe sink on it.
