Holocaust follows the tragedy and triumph of the Weiss family of Berlin and intertwines their fate as European Jews with the story of a German family, the Dorfs, whose members include a high-ranking Nazi officer. Filmed on location in Germany and Austria, Holocaust uses the stories of these fictional families to portray the atrocities against the Jewish people from the 1930s to 1945, and presents a heart-wrenching portrait of their struggle.

This is the anniversary edition released in the U.S. and Canada in 2008.

I can't watch this part again. It's too hard. It hurts. How do you get to the point in your life where you can hand the little crying baby to the mother and stick them in the gas chamber? How do you get there? Why do you want to go on living? That baby sticks in my mind from the 70s.  The woman that carries the baby to the mother. Can't forget it.

Its sad how some Jews on the Judenrat, Jewish Ghetto Police, and Sonderkommandos were often even more cruel to their fellow Jews than the Germans out of some delusion that they would be recognized for their 'patriotism' and be spared from the extermination machine.

i was touched by this movie, those living germans in this generation should be ashamed of what they did to their fellow german jews, and to the family of the ss officers who were part of this shall always remember that their relatives were part of this evil act and shall be forever be condemned....
