Who is "they"?

As we evolve, our consciousness is raised.

There was a time when we burned people alive on a faggot (a bundle of sticks); or when we disallowed women to vote; or we made it illegal for interracial marriage.  There was a time when wearing fur coats was fashionable.

All of this has changed ... and for the better.

In the future, seeing animals being used for human entertainment will be as shocking as seeing dog or cock fighting.
