  • nice man, I built my own 1987x clone, such an amazing tone for blues + 70's classic rock, trying to get a vid together to upload but having camera troubles

  • Thanks, old Marshalls are great amp's, I love the woody tone they make. Post me youre video when its done, I am looking forward to watch it.

  • How do you like your Ceriatone 2204 compared to your Marshall 2205?

  • The 2205 has more gain , but the cleans are not near the 2204.

The 2204 is much tighter in the bass, the 2205 feels looser

    ( and easyer to play ) :)

  • It feels like the ceriatone sounds better at moderat volume, The treble is smoother in some way. It also has more body to the tone. But else they are simular soundwise. My 2203 was a 84 model, which was not one of the best years of marshall, odd transformers and only five filtercaps against the six caps until 82/83. But still better then 85-89 when they cut them down to only three.

On the otther hand, the 50watt 2204 has always had three caps, and they are all very good amps.

  • @trokj

does the ceriatone kit sound like the original jcm 800 2203?

  • The head case is a Marshall 2203 100watt head that I bought for over ten years

ago. It sounded noisy and harsh, I then solder in new filters, and it got better. I then decided to try a complete ceriatone 2204 kit (trannys, board and pots) and used the Marshall head and steel case to mount the new parts in to. But as for the 18 watt combo case, I build it from laminated pinewood, and bougt tolex, grillclothes, handle and piping from Mojotone in US.

  • i also want to buy a ceriatone kit. qhere did you get the head case from?

  • Thanks:)
