An original song written and sung in 1982 by Folk Singer Bob Shannon. Sung with his wife Jane and taped on an old mono reel tape recorder in Mendocino California in 1982. Video overlays done in 2008.
Lyrics:
Gospel Music sing for me
Sing of God and of Liberty
A Gospel March for our Souls to hear
Praise the Lord again.

Used to be far between cities
Now there's no space between towns
We've cluttered the hills with houses and cars
Second mortgaged and second hand loaned.

Gospel Music sing for me
Sing of God and of Liberty
A Gospel March for our Souls to hear
Praise the Lord again.

Praises rise from sea to sea
Lined with buildings and stripped of trees
Rattle the saber to keep us free
What have we undone?

Gospel Music sing for me
Sing of God and of Liberty
A Gospel March for our Souls to hear
Praise the Lord again.

It's never too late to go backwards
undo what mankind has done
and rebuild each step with heavenly help
Praise the Lord again

Gospel Music sing for me
Sing of God and of Liberty
A Gospel March for our Souls to hear
Praise the Lord again.

  • We are long past retired in music. My wife who is in this with me had 7 children AFTER that song was written.....and don't worry about carrying a tune...and most important don't watch TV shows about folks who want to be musicians or singers or rich or some such...they are all in the wrong arena...

  • I like cheese

  • This is probably the best one you have, just because of the quality sound that it kept over the years. I wonder how good these songs would sound if they were recorded with today's technology. We should ask Dave....he knows about executable files.

  • Gotta love the Shannons

  • LOVELY.

    YOU ARE SO TALENTED.
