What a beauty!! Love that Inka (inca?) orange...if I ever have cash to spare, I would love one of these, but guess when that happens they will be very scarce, LOL.

@datsunmadman The BMW 2002 (standard,ti,tii,turbo,Alpina)
, Alfa Romeo GTV, and Ford Escort RS are all quicker sport sedans than a 510. Racing levels the playing field, there are rules and regulations that make it so all are fairly even competitors. All that racing proves is who is the best driver. A fully tuned m10 (2002 engine) without a turbo can produce upwards of 350 horsepower. A fully tuned 510 motor can break 200hp MAYBE. -
In process of restoring a bare metal up BMW 2002. Can't wait to drive it again!!! :)

In 1969, I bought a new 2002 the same color as this, Colorado orange. Got it at Vasek Polak BMW in Manhattan Beach. Didn't know how to drive a stick when I bought, but being a passenger during the salesman's demo drive was enough to convince me to take the plunge. Kept it for 20 years before moving to a wet and sometimes snowy state. Some minor upgrades...Abarth exhaust, Cosmic alloys, Momo wheel, etc. LOVED it on dry pavement. Let me know if you see it: Calif. black plate ZUC870.

The 02 saved BMW from bankruptcy no 02 no BMW. My current 02 alpina A3 does 60mph In 5 secs that's quicker than most modern tin.
Oh here we go, somebody's feeling get hurt because their beloved vehicle's honor gets challenged...
Here are the facts: The BMW 2002 was just the last of the so-called "new series" BMWs in the 1960's. The chassis of the Datsun 510 (introduced in 1968) was a copy of the BMW 1600 (introduced in 1964). 1964 comes before 1968. BMW had it first.
