Biography:
Alonzo Gee (born May 29, 1987) is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers.Gee played basketball at William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida He went on to play four seasons of college basketball at the University of Alabama from the 2005--06 season until 2008--09 season. He started over 70 games at Alabama.After going undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft, Gee was signed by the Austin Toros of the NBA Developmental League. Gee excelled in Austin, averaging 21 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. On March 7, 2010, Gee was signed to a 10-day contract by the Washington Wizards of the NBA. Gee made his NBA debut on March 11 in a game against the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 2 points and grabbing 2 rebounds in 7 minutes of playing time. On March 16, Gee recorded his first career double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against the Denver Nuggets. The next day, he was rewarded with a second 10-day contract.On March 26, Gee made his first NBA start against Charlotte Bobcats, replacing an injured Al Thornton, and responded by scoring a career-high 19 points. After his second 10-day contract expired with the Wizards, on March 29, 2010, Gee signed a contract with the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs assigned him to the Austin Toros on April 8, 2010. In April 2010, Gee was announced as the NBA Development League's Rookie of the Year for 2009--10 after averaging 21 points on 51% shooting (269-of-528) and 6.6 rebounds in 38.2 minutes per game in 36 contests for Austin Gee was waived by the San Antonio Spurs on November 16, 2010. On November 22, he was signed again by the Washington Wizards. He was waived by the Wizards on December 20, then signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 28, 2010
