the park looks creepy!

Why flag my comments as spam? I'm not a bot! I grew up in the area and remember it well as I ventured everywhere on my schwinn stingray. My comments keep disappearing. Prolly, Just like the EPA data! I remember this place. There used to be a sign on Ryan Rd. just North of Hamlin Rd. that said "We tried but 2 died" Around the same era I saw an officer with a couple of kids pulled over on their bikes. He was putting their sneakers in a plastic bag.

You can get to it by going West at the remains of a driveway South of 22 mile road on Ryan. It is a football field North of the river. Once in there try to follow a faint trail, and keep an eye out. It's there. Got a bike? I'll go in for a look. Last time I couldn't find it, but gave up early.

But seriously, park closed due to toxic dumping? Was there by any chance a fence with razor wire caging this in? If so, why did you still go in? If not, how did you come to the conclusion that it was toxic dumping?

Yes there was razor wire from the 1970's through the 1990's. The EPA gave the land an "all clear" about 10 years ago. After heavy rains, there are still rainbows on puddles in some areas, so how clean can it be? It's toxic dumping because there are a few thousand documents saying it was toxic. If you go to the EPA website, you can see the full records, and what was done to clean it up. The list of chems in the ground is listed there. It's a lot of nasty stuff.
