I just picked up a radio after being inactive in ham radio for around 15 years. This is my first call after a very long hiatus indeed.

  • NO MORE CODE ,now theres no excuse to get a ham radio license!

  • Now you've got kids who are learning the code because it makes 'em more 'leet. :) They're calling it the Tom Sawyer effect. :)

  • Hey Robin ignore these morons. You did nothing wrong when you called for anyone listening. Hope to work you on HF some time. If you ever got your HF come look for us nightly around 1800 hrs on 3862.5 for the Magnolia Section Net. I also check into the OMISS 40 meter net nightly on 7185.0 1900 hrs. BTW, I too am in Mississippi, QTH is the Gulf Coast. Echolink into KA5VFU-L and give me a call some time. 73, Jimmy KB5FSV

  • Nice to meet you, Jimmy! When I'm able to get an antenna onto this old Heathkit, I'll look for y'all. In the meantime, law school is kicking my ass. :)

  • Hello out there anyone got a copy on me - CB LINGO

THIS IS KB5MMI anyone got a copy

Dude your a general you should know how to talk.

  • Oh, I see what you're saying. "Anybody got a copy on me," is the kind of thing you hear all the time on 2 meters... or at least it was 15 years ago. It's not like I was saying "Breaker Breaker this is Bull Dozer. Rubber Duck, have you got your ears on? Come back."

Ah... Smokey and the Bandit. CBese at its finest.

Perhaps it's a regional difference in ham lingo? Or even my accent? I am in the Deep South after all... ANYTHING I say is going to make me sound like a trucker. :)

  • I just got my lisence, and one of my buddies gave me one of their old Realistic HTX-202. Let me tell ya, those things are bullet proof!!! Just started transmitting yesterday, and I'm kinda shaky with it, but I have a feeling I'll get used to it.
