1/14/12 - Resuming from the stop after Cornell, there was a brief discussion of whether it is a requirement to put a foot down at a stop, then a bunch of hard efforts over rollers followed by a fun descent. At the Las Virgenes stop ligjt, an argument ensued regarding some moves by one rider ahead of me on the descent. Can you spot what happened?

  • You cant really see it on the video, but the bonehead move was by the guy on the Cannondale (u pass him at 4:12 & he passes u @ 5:10 in the video) who decides he wants to pass everyone on the descent going into the last right sweeper. He miss judges the corner and almost takes some riders out.

    Where's the Portero climb video?

  • @45gvg My Potrero climb was too embarrassing to post :(

  • Was the sketchball in question the dude on the shoulder at 5:40?

  • @thrivingatthreshold No; I didn't see it when it happened and I'm not sure you can see it in the video but it sure got a bunch of people upset.

  • wow man not to be a troll but you're using too much brakes on such a lovely decent

  • @svenjto I admit I am not a great descender, something I always try to work on. However I do feel that a training ride is not the best time to be pushing my boundaries if I know I will be able to make it up later.

  • The guy at 5:00 who passes on the inside, got a bit twitchy [maybe he hit a small rock/pebble?] and cornered on the center-line paint would make me nervous, especially if I were one of the guys to his right. If he were unlucky enough to slip during the corner he would take down a hand full of riders with him at nearly 40mph. Is that the sketchball you mention?

The dude at 5:40 was about 6 inches away from being airlifted to the ER.

  • yeah u know best :) nice vids btw deff a nice channel to subscribe to...:) Greetings from Scotland where it's too damn wet to ride today :D

  • I suspect the harry move was near the hairpin.

On another note, this video reinforces my belief that it's usually unnecessary to pedal above 45mph.

  • group descents are often tricky.

  • I can see why you're on the bike so much with roads like you have there, I would be too! Thanks for another great video.
