One of the most basic yoga "routines" (or vinyasa) is sun salutation. Theories circulate that it was originally made to worship the Hindu Lord Surya. The term for the series of poses is Surya Namaskar. It's benefits include improving circulation, strengthening the heart and lengthening major muscle groups of the body. I use it to coordinate breathing with yoga movement, in addition to settling the mind, getting "grounded". It is such a short series with the basics to yoga that there is no excuse for not trying.
