A drive-by of Olive Lake in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada. This is on B.C. highway number 93 and features both south and north views. Olive Lake is an idyllic spot to have a picnic, hike, and fish in the lake. Be aware bears often frequent this area as well. The day this was shot the picnic area was closed to the presence of family of grizzly bears. Radium Hot Springs is about 15 min south of Olive Lake.

This is also the location of very horrific traffic accident on Friday, July 22, 2011 that resulted in 4 fatalities: http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Fuel+tanker+crash+explosion+park+claims+mul...

  • A memorial website for the Family that was in the horrible accident in Kootenay National Park near Olive Lake is available at robertandanamaria . com

  • If you interested about the spot where the very unfortunate accident happened on July 22, 2011 see the video at 01:52 (travelling north to south), and 02:52 (travelling south to north) as we believe this is the spot. It is a fairly sharp curve on a downslope that 60KMH is the recommended maximum speed.

  • Amazing job on the video. It 's a real shame what happened at the corner this past weekend . While I do not know if it was a contributing factor I do think they should ban those multi-trailer trucks on these twisty mountain roads. In the video it's look like an even bigger multi-trailer truck was sitting at the brake check. I have seen these things cruising Alberta Highways with as many as 3 trailers. These should be banned from all roads.

  • I love that drive but I wish they would ban those multiple trailer truck trains.

  • Love it.

  • Another fine job, love the music.

  • A beautiful little lake but watch out for bears, they like it too.
