This smaller species of boa is naturally found in the American Southwest, but mine have been domesticated their whole lives. I have had these rosies since they were babies, which was probably around seven years ago, though an exact date is uncertain. A well-kept rosy can live past 25 years though, so they are certainly at a good healthy age yet. These snakes are currently adults and have been fed regularly, eating thawed frozen hopper mice with no problems.

Rosy boas are very easy snakes to take care of and are quite common among the herpetoculturist community. Bedding can include sand, cypress mulch, and even newspaper. Lighting is not necessary, and just half of the cage should have an undertank heating pad.

Any beginner looking for a nice place to start or enthusiasts who want to add some gorgeous snakes to their collection can not miss out on these pretty snakes!

By the way, you will notice in the video that one of the rosies has a small spot on the head. About two years ago, it got in the way of the other rosy, which was startled and snapped back, removing a few scales. There is no need to worry as this has not and will not pose any threat to its health, and occurrences as this are quite rare.

$120 each

Thanks!

  • I have never had a Rosey. I have had redtails and rubber boas. Are these aggressive snakes?

  • Rosy boas are actually known as one of the more docile snakes to own, and many beginners start out with rosies. Since I have taken off for college, my rosies have become a little more aggressive though since I left them with my parents and brother, so they don't get held as often. They need some love! After giving them some more attention and human contact, they quickly snap back into their docile behavior. I hold them every time I visit, and I am sure you will have no problems.

  • Are they stil available?

  • They surely are!

  • are they still available?

    and is there a female?

  • Hello, yes the rosies are still available. While I can not confirm 100 percent, I am pretty sure that they are all male. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
