The second in a five part special, covering the activities of the first day of the 2011 Summer Diesel extravaganza at the East Lancashire Railway.

Part two starts off with a trip on the Bury to Ramsbottom non-stop shuttle, with the Midland Railway Centre's Class 20 diesel 20048 at the helm. 20048 whistles her way out of Bury Bolton Street, and later on pulls out of Ramsbottomto run round her stock in the goods sidings beyond the station and the level crossing.

The Severn Valley's BR Class 50 diesel 50044 Exeter (now resplendent in plain BR blue livery) enters Ramsbottom on a Bury to Rawtenstall service. Meanwhile, East Lancashire resident BR Deltic 55022 Royal Scots Grey arrives on a Rawtenstall to Heywood run.

We join 55022 for the return to Bury (making a short stop at Summerseat along the way), and then enjoy the twin napier music as RSG continues on her way to Heywood.

Cheers to 37057viking (Rob Bray) and 50008thunder (Ritchie Davison) for their company and laughs!

  • @thegoldenarrow1995 Thanks Matt. Yeah, 55022 looks a little grubby now, but hasn't she always been like that?

  • A couple of fine videos of the gala. You really capture the locos well when you are on board the trains, not always an easy task.

  • @bobnweaver Cheers. Three more parts to come, so stay tuned!
