I am deeply disappointed to inform you my office is closed due to the government shutdown. I will keep working for Montana no matter what. But, members of my staff who are not directly working on legislation to end the shutdown are on mandatory furlough status because of the funding lapse.
We are 100 percent focused on getting the basic functions and services you need back up and running.
I understand there is a lot of uncertainty right now. Unfortunately I don't have all the answers you need. But I can tell you without a doubt that I share your outrage and concern.
There is absolutely no reason we cannot come together and restore basic functions. I am doing everything I can to make that happen, so that you have access to the services you need and Congress can focus on passing job-creating priorities like the Farm Bill.
The time for debate is over. We have to work together to do what needs to be done.
To our troops, our seniors, our more than 12,000 Montana federal employees, and anyone back home who is suffering because of the failure in Washington: please know that you are my number one concern. I won't stop working for you, no matter what.
