Large pipe ...OK you are clever and thought of that already , but you have to use that nail clipper for like 2 hours. I hope that you didn't get the idea by looking your size of nails...:-)

It's the diference in atmospheric preassure that creates wind...
Warm air is low density and lighter then
cold air (which is higher density)
No pressure differences = no wind
Air puts force to make it equal so we have wind
So ant's know that and they build high and low holes for air con. or else they would all be dead.

PLEASE don't accuse me of COPYING. I never saw this before and I don't watch discovery. Again, DON'T accuse me of copying!! I sat down over a period of a week to think of as many ideas as I could. If my idea is similar to someone else's idea... then it is fortuitous!!

INVENT dont copy , i saw this idea on discovery more than 2 years ago .gosh.
it works , but its someone elses.

thx, there would have to be a study performed to see what size and shape would be optimal.

At least an idea that's not complete idiocy. I have doubts though whether it would be economical.
BRAVO!!!!
I thought the same thing but you already discovered that... I haven't read all comments but remember that height is also important as ants ability to build higher tower influence on the wind strength in their canals.

uhmmmm? and if I place a small generator between the two arms of a fingernail clipper, I can recharge my cell phone while doing a manicure.

I like the idea. Imagine setting something of this sort up in the most arid lands on the planet, with the largest possible swing between hot and cold temps. If it is feasible and economical you could provide virtually free energy to some of the poorest places on earth.
As a side-note, don't be concerned about
mmarmash (accusing you of copying). He/she/it has been making similar accusations on others' projects. We and Google already understand many ideas are similar, especially the good ones.

I wonder if one could run a "large pipe" from the base of a mountain to the peak. There would alway be a temperature and pressure differential and therefore always a flow of air through the tube. There... one could put a turbine in the "pipe"... and always get free energy. This would be analogous to placing a turbine in a river. Just a thought.
