It was a very long, slow process that took over half a year. She really struggled with it, but it was Bo's influence on her that changed her. If you watch all the clips, you'll see how often she kept falling back to her old ways. Slowly but surely, she started to change. When she first got out of prison, she was scheming like a nutjob. Bo really turned her around. It didn't happen overnight.

Oh gawd so the writers expect us to believe that a former prisoner like gabby got out of prison and became softer and weaker?I so think not...They ruined the charecter of gabby

I had forgotten how great it was having Alex around-- especially with the "real" Todd, Gabrielle, and Nigel.
