Why the Irish winter has gone cold, and the likely prognosis over coming weeks. Basically the sun has not fully kicked into cycle 24 yet, but will do so over the next 18 months. It means colder spells when the moon is in the north and in perigee, and less cold at other times. Overall December is a month of precipitation, and the first half of January should be mostly dry.

I don't think it's anything unusual. It's just that we are noticing them more these days, after the Christchurch events. Wellington is on the Alpine fault line that runs from Te Anau to White island.

Mr Ring uses quote "+/- 4 days" from each event (full moon, new moon, perigee, apogee and king tides. This means that up to 100% of a given month can be covered by his forecasting methods. See my video "What is wrong with Ken Rings forecast charts".

Quite how you think solar activity (and extremely small variations in said activity) has such an immediate and noticeable effect on temperatures in the BI is completely ridiculous and most certainly unsubstantiated by any evidence whatsoever. In addition, a failed forecast, considering you fail to mention any chance of the coldest month on record occurring in Ireland in December.
