  • IMHO it is perfectly normal and the result of over-sollicitation of the muscles which in this way try to clear out lactic acid. It may result from exercise, postural problems, stress, trauma, and/or (most likely) abuse in childhood. In any case, the fasciculations are providing a useful function to the body so let them be. Obviously I agree that you should rule out pathologies but you should not worry that it might be pathological because it is unlikely.

  • @xpecial557 Is your opinion based on science, or are you guessing? How do you make the lactic acid connection? I ask because based on my reading and professional consultations, the causes are at present unknown.

  • Oh my goodness me. I looked this up to see if it matched what I'm going through (it doesn't; I get full-on jerks in random parts of my body, not to mention numbness and electric shocks down my spine, and then some) and it looks pretty creepy. How often does that happen? Does it hurt or is it just a nuisance? I'm 20 and female, btw.

  • @daddycutsme It doesn't hurt at all, can barely feel it. When it's very active it feels like little bubbles running along the skin. This movement is chronic (never stops) although the frequency of the twitches sometimes slows to one or two a second. The video was taken during a very active phase.

  • UGH isnt that annoying???!!! I hate BFS

  • @arawrebirth20 -

I really am not bothered by the sensation, which is hardly noticeable, especially if I'm wearing shoes.

  • I get that from time to time, though not as much. And it's usually on my thigh, arm or shoulder. For some reason, I always feel the need to look at it when it happens lol. I'm just strange like that.

  • I hope you also got my previous comment. Peter Levine and David Berceli.

  • Btw you appear to have a fallen arch. You might want to see a podologist. I recommend MBT shoes, they helped my posture a lot. Barefoot is also good. The foot problems have effects all the way through calf, knee, hamstring, hip and lower back. Micro-osteopathy is very good. I have constant fasciculation together with plantar fasciitis in my left foot but it is now healing nicely I think.

  • I wish we could discuss. on the psychogenic aspect see Alexander Lowen, Peter Levine and David Berceli. Western medicine is blind, especially to anything that cant be solved by drugs or surgery.

  • im 42 this has been happening over my entire body (but mostly my feet and legs) since i was 10 years old it is not painful just annoying but has been happening for so long sometimes i'm more aware of it when it stops

  • I'm 24 year old Healthy use to workout everyday until I started having twitches all over my body its been almost 3 months for me somedays are worse than others, I still have my strenght from working out Im going to try ACUPUNCTURE tomorrow I went to my Doc and he gave me Muscle relaxers and send me home I hate taking pills So I decided to try something different I will let you all know if Acupucture WORKS STAY POSITIVE GOD BLESS YOU STAY STRONG WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER!!

  • If you have fasciculations please do yourself a favor and get a Western Blot Test for Lyme disease. These type of symptoms are often caused by an infection of the spirochete Borrelia Burgdorferi. Not just ticks, but many other bloodsuckers can transmit Lyme along with many other nasty co-infections and parasites. It is very important to consult a Lyme literate doctor (LLD), either before or after your western blot test. As soon as I started antibiotics my fasciculations drastically decreased

  • My dang left foot for 2 days now lol! I first noticed these ripples and twitches about 11 years ago, and they've gotten worse as I've gotten older; can't wait to see a neurologist in case it's something worse.
