  • Hi, im hving the compressor surge problem as well and been cracking my head to solve this problem. Ive changed to Turbosmart Race Port BOV but its still the same! When part throttle my engine will judder and the boost meter will go haywire....

When WOT ive no problem at all but when i lift off the throttle a little the problem comes immediately...

What should i do? Ive tried to stiffen my BOV spring but its still the same!

Pls advise & how to solve this plm?

    My setup :

    GT3076R

    GSC S2 cams

  • @atchydroeng Go to turbobuick for help, but...using a BOV to control surge is a band-aid. I did it because I loved the T-70 turbo, but you have surge because the output of the compressor isn't matched to your engine's ability to ingest all the air. Head and exhaust work is the only cure, or a turbo whose boost curve better matches your application.

  • sounds broken

  • so good

  • k onda con eso

  • @crazy8sx08 It's the stock 200-R4 auto.

  • @boost4fun did u keep the car an auto or swap in a 5 speed?

  • @Exticy08 Or just give the engine better supporting mods for the turbo, So it can move more air...

  • change to a higher psi BOV spring or rase the psi rate if you have an ajustible BOV

  • @EviL80iE

I accidentally deleted your original comment - sorry. An improperly sized turbo coupled with a lack of a BOV was what was causing the problem. The turbo was very efficient and was making a lot more boost than the engine could ingest at lower RPMs. The pressurized air backs up in the intake tract and causes the surge. A BOV fixes it by venting boost when there is a big enough difference in the boost between the intake tract and beyond the throttle body.
