@zurcsurot : don't be insecure with the color of your skin. To be honest with you there are so many western who spend too much money and getting crazy to get brown. Only asian country wants to be white or to look pale. If you tried to visit other countries, chinitos are being describe as DS individual and unfortunately some western people used to asked why they look pale but their armpit is completely dark (not just armpit actually).

@syndrah90 Yes, I'll offer you another perspective when I see fit. :)

It's true that a lot prefer the mestizo (or even chinito) look. But nowadays it's the color of the skin more than anything else (I'm moreno myself and I used to be super insecure about this). And it's not just because of Spanish colonial times. It's a combination of Asian preference for lighter skin, Colonial times, plus Hollywood. :)

PS. I checked your profile.. you look chinita yourself! hahaha

@zurcsurot kaw nanaman, i did'nt say light people, i said mestizo or those who have more caucasian features, filipinos are ashamed to have the native look thus looking dowm to those who have it .

"Light is better" complexity existed before the Spaniards came. It's persistent across all East Asia. China, Japan, Thailand. They already had the notion of "the lighter your skin is the less expose you're from the sun and the less manual work you do (ie. farming)

Remember the "Maharlika" class in pre-hispanic Philippines, chances are they had lighter skin. The presence of Spaniards just intensified the psyche.

filipinos think that native filipinos are ugly thus of lesser value, they think that the only beautiful people are the mutts spanish perverts spawned in the country, which is why the filipino media puts more importance to the spanish mestizos who are just a minority. this inturn makes the majority feel that they are of less importance. Spaniards really made a good job in destroying the filipinos psyche.

I don't understand... some pictures of Filipinas shown here are not mestizas at all! Was some research was done on this? This just seems like a collection of Filipina faces through the centuries...
