Video of my Environmental Design Project - Spring 2007

The enormous cardboard bales that are sitting in the recycling centers make me think they will never be used anymore and may stay in the environment without having a specific purpose or destination. As a result, I decided to design a pavilion that would be built only using recycled cardboard, making it an option for also other future environmentally friendly structures like housing units and also saving space on landfills and trees that could have been used for wood structures. It is lightweight, low cost and also transportable because of its assembling process. All parts of it are made out of cardboard and minimal fixings. A series of portal frames are connected by secondary pieces that guarantee the stability of the whole building. In the end, every surface receives a coat of clear plastic resin to protect from water damage.
